cd03255 | ABC_MJ0796_LolCDE_FtsE | 1.93e-94 | 5 | 219 | 1 | 218 | ATP-binding cassette domain of the transporters involved in export of lipoprotein and macrolide, and cell division protein. This family is comprised of MJ0796 ATP-binding cassette, macrolide-specific ABC-type efflux carrier (MacAB), and proteins involved in cell division (FtsE), and release of lipoproteins from the cytoplasmic membrane (LolCDE). They are clustered together phylogenetically. MacAB is an exporter that confers resistance to macrolides, while the LolCDE system is not a transporter at all. An FtsE null mutants showed filamentous growth and appeared viable on high salt medium only, indicating a role for FtsE in cell division and/or salt transport. The LolCDE complex catalyzes the release of lipoproteins from the cytoplasmic membrane prior to their targeting to the outer membrane. |

TIGR02982 | heterocyst_DevA | 2.60e-59 | 20 | 219 | 20 | 219 | ABC exporter ATP-binding subunit, DevA family. Members of this protein family are found mostly in the Cyanobacteria, but also in the Planctomycetes. Cyanobacterial examples are involved in heterocyst formation, by which some fraction of members of the colony undergo a developmental change and become capable of nitrogen fixation. The DevBCA proteins are thought export of either heterocyst-specific glycolipids or an enzyme essential for formation of the laminated layer found in heterocysts. |
TIGR03608 | L_ocin_972_ABC | 6.56e-59 | 8 | 214 | 2 | 206 | putative bacteriocin export ABC transporter, lactococcin 972 group. A gene pair with a fairly wide distribution consists of a polypeptide related to the lactococcin 972 (see TIGR01653) and multiple-membrane-spanning putative immunity protein (see TIGR01654). This model represents a small clade within the ABC transporters that regularly are found adjacent to these bacteriocin system gene pairs and are likely serve as export proteins.
