pfam13844 | Glyco_transf_41 | 2.63e-28 | 169 | 513 | 80 | 543 | Glycosyl transferase family 41. This family of glycosyltransferases includes O-linked beta-N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) transferase, an enzyme which catalyzes the addition of O-GlcNAc to serine and threonine residues. In addition to its function as an O-GlcNAc transferase, human OGT also appears to proteolytically cleave the epigenetic cell-cycle regulator HCF-1. |
TIGR02917 | PEP_TPR_lipo | 3.46e-06 | 21 | 155 | 138 | 272 | putative PEP-CTERM system TPR-repeat lipoprotein. This protein family occurs in strictly within a subset of Gram-negative bacterial species with the proposed PEP-CTERM/exosortase system, analogous to the LPXTG/sortase system common in Gram-positive bacteria. This protein occurs in a species if and only if a transmembrane histidine kinase (TIGR02916) and a DNA-binding response regulator (TIGR02915) also occur. The present of tetratricopeptide repeats (TPR) suggests protein-protein interaction, possibly for the regulation of PEP-CTERM protein expression, since many PEP-CTERM proteins in these genomes are preceded by a proposed DNA binding site for the response regulator. |
cd03807 | GT4_WbnK-like | 2.45e-04 | 390 | 517 | 241 | 361 | Shigella dysenteriae WbnK and similar proteins. This family is most closely related to the GT4 family of glycosyltransferases. WbnK in Shigella dysenteriae has been shown to be involved in the type 7 O-antigen biosynthesis. |
cd04949 | GT4_GtfA-like | 4.33e-04 | 397 | 474 | 217 | 282 | accessory Sec system glycosyltransferase GtfA and similar proteins. This family is most closely related to the GT4 family of glycosyltransferases and is named after gtfA in Streptococcus gordonii, where it plays a role in the O-linked glycosylation of GspB, a cell surface glycoprotein involved in platelet binding. In general glycosyltransferases catalyze the transfer of sugar moieties from activated donor molecules to specific acceptor molecules, forming glycosidic bonds. The acceptor molecule can be a lipid, a protein, a heterocyclic compound, or another carbohydrate residue. This group of glycosyltransferases is most closely related to the previously defined glycosyltransferase family 1 (GT1). The members of this family may transfer UDP, ADP, GDP, or CMP linked sugars. The diverse enzymatic activities among members of this family reflect a wide range of biological functions. The protein structure available for this family has the GTB topology, one of the two protein topologies observed for nucleotide-sugar-dependent glycosyltransferases. GTB proteins have distinct N- and C- terminal domains each containing a typical Rossmann fold. The two domains have high structural homology despite minimal sequence homology. The large cleft that separates the two domains includes the catalytic center and permits a high degree of flexibility. The members of this family are found in bacteria. |
