COG1609 PurR 9.46e-43 66 287 114 332
DNA-binding transcriptional regulator, LacI/PurR family [Transcription].
cd06267 PBP1_LacI_sugar_binding-like 2.97e-41 66 278 55 263
ligand binding domain of the LacI transcriptional regulator family belonging to the type 1 periplasmic-binding fold protein superfamily. Ligand binding domain of the LacI transcriptional regulator family belonging to the type 1 periplasmic-binding fold protein superfamily. In most cases, ligands are monosaccharide including lactose, ribose, fructose, xylose, arabinose, galactose/glucose, and other sugars. The LacI family of proteins consists of transcriptional regulators related to the lac repressor. In this case, the domain sugar binding changes the DNA binding activity of the repressor domain.
cd01949 GGDEF 9.36e-40 469 617 2 154
Diguanylate-cyclase (DGC) or GGDEF domain. Diguanylate-cyclase (DGC) or GGDEF domain: Originally named after a conserved residue pattern, and initially described as a domain of unknown function 1 (DUF1). This domain is widely present in bacteria, linked to a wide range of non-homologous domains in a variety of cell signaling proteins. The domain shows homology to the adenylyl cyclase catalytic domain. This correlates with the functional information available on two GGDEF-containing proteins, namely diguanylate cyclase and phosphodiesterase A of Acetobacter xylinum, both of which regulate the turnover of cyclic diguanosine monophosphate. Together with the EAL domain, GGDEF might be involved in regulating cell surface adhesion in bacteria.
COG2199 GGDEF 1.28e-36 458 617 11 175
GGDEF domain, diguanylate cyclase (c-di-GMP synthetase) or its enzymatically inactive variants [Signal transduction mechanisms].
cd06291 PBP1_Qymf-like 1.28e-30 68 283 57 264
ligand binding domain of the lacI-like transcription regulator from a novel metal-reducing bacterium Alkaliphilus Metalliredigens (strain Qymf) and its close homologs. This group includes the ligand binding domain of the lacI-like transcription regulator from a novel metal-reducing bacterium Alkaliphilus metalliredigens (strain Qymf) and its close homologs. Qymf is a strict anaerobe that could be grown in the presence of borax and its cells are straight rods that produce endospores. This group is a member of the LacI-GalR family repressors that are composed of two functional domains: an N-terminal HTH (helix-turn-helix) domain, which is responsible for the DNA-binding specificity, and a C-terminal ligand-binding domain, which is homologous to the sugar-binding domain of ABC-type transport systems that contain the type 1 periplasmic binding protein-like fold. As also observed in the periplasmic binding proteins, the C-terminal domain of the bacterial transcription repressor undergoes a conformational change upon ligand binding which in turn changes the DNA binding affinity of the repressor.
